Teaching Experience : Donncha is an enthusiastic tutor who employs a person-centred approach to legal teaching. He enjoys demystifying legal topics with new learners as well as discussing more complex problems with experienced law students. Donncha graduated with first class honours from Trinity College Dublin and with a distinction in the prestigious BCL masters programme from the University of Oxford. He is a practising solicitor, having worked in the environmental law department of a large commercial law firm, and now works in the area of legislative drafting and public law. Donncha is qualified in Ireland as well as England and Wales. He has experience mentoring and tutoring students at all levels of the qualification process in his native Ireland, from undergraduate to FE1 prep to PPC1 and 2 courses. He was a member of staff in the Law Society of Ireland's Irish language solicitor training module and so has extensive knowledge of the student experience in Blackhall Place. In terms of legal subject matter, Donncha has a wide range of interests and experiences. Having studied environmental law, medical law and ethics, principles of civil procedure, and comparative human rights law in Oxford, these represent some of his main academic interests. He has also excelled in constitutional law, public law, tort law, the law of contracts, EU law, industrial relations law, and has a particular personal interest in legal philosophy and jurisprudence. Donncha has a lot of insight and experience to impart in terms of legal skills, public speaking, and related soft skills modules. He won best speaker at the White and Case Jessup international law moot and won a prize for coming first in his Blackhall class (of c. 150) in the end of year advocacy practical exam. He is a trained lawyer-linguist and has completed high level legal translation projects at national and EU level. .
